Reviews plus a texting inbox in one tool. Capable, but the price is a real jump from review-only options.

This is a researched profile of Podium, built from its own pages and docs, not yet hands-on.

Built for, and not

Built for

  • Service businesses that want reviews, a shared texting inbox, and text-to-pay in one tool, and will use all three
  • Shops on ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro that want review requests to fire automatically after a job
  • Multi-location operators (two to five) who can spread the Pro cost across sites

Skip this if

  • Owner-operators who only want more Google reviews. NiceJob does that for a fraction of the price
  • Anyone wary of a 12-month contract or with seasonal revenue
  • Budget-tight shops. The headline price climbs once AI and phone add-ons are included

Pros and cons

What works

  • Reviews, a two-way texting inbox, and text-to-pay in one platform
  • Native integrations with ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Jobber
  • Strong if you genuinely use messaging and payments, not just reviews

Watch before buying

  • Expensive: a large jump over review-only tools
  • 12-month auto-renewing contract with cancellation complaints
  • AI and phone features are paid add-ons on top of the base

01

What Podium is

Podium is a customer-communication platform for local businesses: review generation, a two-way texting inbox, text-to-pay, and webchat in one place. It is much more than a review tool, and it is priced to match.

02

Where it shines

Consolidation. If you are juggling reviews, customer texts, and payment collection across separate tools, Podium pulls them into one inbox, with native hooks into ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Jobber so review requests fire automatically after a job.

03

Where it falls short

Price and lock-in. The reported floor is about $399 a month on a 12-month auto-renewing contract (prices are no longer public), the AI and phone features cost extra, and the value collapses if all you actually need is review requests. Cancellation complaints are a recurring theme in reviews.

Our verdict

Worth it only if you will use the whole platform. For a shop that texts customers, collects payment by text, and wants reviews automated, Podium earns its price. For review volume alone, NiceJob delivers most of the outcome at a fraction of the cost and without a contract. Our score reflects researched sources and verified user reviews, not hands-on testing.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Podium.

What does Podium cost for a single-location shop?

Podium no longer lists prices publicly; the reported floor is about $399 a month on an annual contract. Add the AI reply (about $99) and phones (about $30 a user) and realistic spend is $500 to $600 a month, around $6,000 to $7,000 a year. Confirm with sales.

Is there a contract?

Yes, all plans are 12-month contracts that auto-renew. There is no month-to-month option, and several reviewers report billing continuing after they tried to cancel.

Podium or NiceJob?

NiceJob starts at $75 a month with no contract and focuses on review automation. Podium starts at $399 and adds a texting inbox, payments, and campaigns. For reviews only, NiceJob is roughly five times cheaper. For a full customer-messaging hub, Podium does more.

Is Podium worth it for a small shop?

Only if you use the messaging inbox and payments, not just reviews. If you mainly want more Google reviews, the $399 floor and annual contract are hard to justify against lighter tools.
